Murrumba Downs & Surrounding Districts Mums

Murrumba Downs & Surrounding Districts Mums is a place where mothers from suburbs on Brisbane’s Northside (including, but not limited to Kallangur, Petrie, Narangba, Bray Park, Deception Bay, North Lakes and Caboolture) can come together; create connections with other mums whilst making lifelong friendships for themselves and their children. We have regular meets, a facebook discussion group, Mums nights & much, much more!!

The name Murrumba was derived from the local Aboriginal dialect and means Good place. And that is exactly what it is for us Mums. Murrumba Downs & Surrounding Districts Mums (also known as ‘Murrumba Mums’) is such a Good place because it is a supportive facebook community wherein we can feel safe to share our experiences honestly and openly but more than that it’s a wonderful Mother’s group that, like other Mother’s groups or playgroups, will meet once a week, but furthermore have other fun outings and activities. So we get the best of both worlds – fun meetups and can stay connected on a daily basis through the facebook platform.

It’s also a Good place for our children. They’re getting to interact with other families that we’re not just seeing once a week and barely speak to – we’re making meaningful friendships and creating a wonderful network for them to gain confidence and social skills from.

Most importantly this is a Good place for ALL Mums. We’re not a clicky group – we want all Mums to feel welcome, whether you’re a new Mum or new to the area or just need to make new friends. Mums of all different backgrounds are encouraged to join us, even the Mr Mums – it is our differences that add to the vibrancy of our group.

Being a parent is such a rewarding experience, but it can certainly be a challenge as well. When I became a mother I started feeling lonely and isolated and I wondered how many other mothers felt the same. This is one of the driving factors behind creating this group – no one should ever feel alone; like they have no one to talk to, or that they do not have any support because there always is…

Our aim is to bring the community together; to make new friendships and to support one another. So what are you waiting for? Come and join us now

QLD FIFO Network for families in Brisbane

a new social networking group

With the increase in FIFO or DIDO workplaces around Australia, but specifically for our QLD Mum’s and Dad’s it has created a new breed of “single” parents.  Spurred on by a discussion on another mothers group site, Mel Jones decided to make a group on Facebook specifically for QLD FIFO (and DIDO) Families.

Our aim is to link families in the same situation through the power of Social Media.  We hear about the support groups formed by Defence Force Families, and community groups for singles etc, so the QLD FIFO Network is a great way to meet other parents in the same situations who can understand our unique issues the FIFO/DIDO lifestyle presents.

QLD FIFO Network is a casual network via Facebook to discuss all things family, kid or random issues with other FIFO/DIDO families as well as around formal and informal meet ups in local areas.  We are always looking for new members to join our group so find us on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/576287582396928/
